Residential seminars, team days, private celebrations and small weddings take place at Château du Val, in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, west of Paris. The house has eight meeting rooms, the largest seating 60, a restaurant for 75 and 49 bedrooms with 94 beds. Private events take up to 85 guests, and the whole property can be hired for larger occasions. It is run as a 4-star hotel under the name Maison du Val by the group Les Maisons de Campagne.
Seminars and company events
Seminars are held on weekdays under an all-inclusive residential package: breakfast buffet, buffet lunch with vegetarian and other dietary options, breaks with fruit and snacks, and a plated dinner of starter, main, cheese and dessert, with one menu for the whole group that changes each week. The evening includes a welcome aperitif and a free bar until 2 am. A dedicated team helps shape the programme, and team-building activities are run by selected partners. Between sessions, participants have free use of the estate's activities: petanque, Mölkky, table tennis, lawn games, forest walks, heated outdoor Nordic baths, a cinema, billiards, arcade games, karaoke, table football and darts.
Weddings and receptions
The house takes small weddings, civil wedding celebrations, hen weekends, family reunions, christenings and birthday weekends. Parts of the estate can be reserved for one group, and for large occasions the entire property can be hired, with a format built for the event.
Rooms and capacities
The main house has a plenary room of 90 m² overlooking the garden, for 60, Room A of 63 m² for 40, and Room B of 50 m² for 35. The library, lined with more than 10,000 books, seats 16. La Laiterie, an informal room with a bar, a stove and sofas, takes eight. In Les Écuries, two hybrid rooms of 19 m² take 12 each. Rooms are equipped with a wireless presentation system, audiovisual equipment and stationery. The Galerie des Portraits serves as a cinema and games room, with karaoke on request.
Accommodation
The 49 bedrooms are let as singles, doubles or twins to seminar guests, with a breakfast buffet the next morning. Le Pavillon holds 14 rooms looking onto the woods, and La Grange has nine contemporary rooms and two lounges that can be reserved for one group. The hotel holds the Clef Verte eco-label.
Catering
The restaurant, La Table, runs through a series of salons with a terrace over the park, and its chef cooks from market produce. La Laiterie doubles as a bar for coffee, wine and cocktails.
History and setting
The house was a hunting lodge of Louis XIV, and its design is attributed to Jules Hardouin-Mansart. It now stands in a 4-hectare park within the state forest of Saint-Germain-en-Laye, on the Route forestière des Brancas, with the woods on every side.
Getting there
Saint-Germain-en-Laye is served by RER A from central Paris, and the house lies a short taxi ride from the station through the forest. Two free car parks sit close to the bedrooms, with no booking needed.
