Seminars, client days, trade shows, private receptions and weddings for up to 250 seated guests can be held at the Château de Brézé, in the village of Brézé, about 10 km from Saumur in the Loire Valley. The main event room is the Salle Condé, in the former stables, and the park is open to guests during the hire.
Seminars and company events
The château lists seminars, client events, trade shows and exhibitions among the uses of the Salle Condé. At 285 m², the room takes a plenary session, a product display or a dinner after the working day, and the château supplies chairs and both round and rectangular tables. For a company group, the guided tour of the underground fortress, more than a kilometre of passages and rooms cut into the rock, makes an activity between sessions. Guided visits run every day. The château already receives clubs and corporate groups: in 2017 it hosted the western France members of the Mercedes-Benz Club France.
Weddings and receptions
Weddings, private receptions and evening parties use the same room. The château publishes a dedicated brochure, Se marier au château de Brézé, with its terms. Access to the park is included with the hire, which leaves room for drinks outdoors before dinner.
Rooms and capacities
The Salle Condé measures 285 m² and seats 250. Its thick tuffeau walls and vaulted ceiling belong to the stables built in the 16th century. A caterer's area adjoins the room. The château also lists the grand gallery, a 19th-century space completed in 2006, and the billiard room among the rooms that can be hired; their capacities are not published.
Catering
Catering is served from a dedicated caterer's area next to the Salle Condé. The château does not name caterers on its website, so the choice is discussed when booking. The estate makes its own wines, sold under the Vignobles Colbert name through the château shop.
History and setting
A castle is recorded on the site in 1063, in a charter of the abbey of Saint-Florent, and the first lords of Brézé lived in the rock below it in the 11th century. The Renaissance logis dates from the 16th century. Beneath it lies an underground fortress: at about 9 metres deep, rooms were dug for stables, kitchens and light wells, with an underground bakery, a 17th-century silkworm room and a large wine-press hall. The dry moats, dug in the 15th century and deepened in the 16th, are among the deepest in Europe, and a cask hall is cut into their walls. The château is a classified historic monument, owned by the Comte and Comtesse de Colbert, and receives more than 100,000 visitors a year.
Getting there
The château is at 2 rue du Château, 49260 Brézé. Parking is at 20 rue de l'Amiral de Maillé-Brézé, opposite number 27. Saumur, about 10 km away, has the nearest railway station.
