Seminars, meetings, receptions, cocktails and weddings can be organised at Château d'Ételan, which is hired in full to one group at a time. The château, at Saint-Maurice-d'Ételan in Seine-Maritime, Normandy, has a 100 m² salon, a 70 m² meeting room, a 50 m² dining room and a classified chapel, and a 350 m² area beside the house takes a marquee for larger dinners. The owners do not publish guest numbers per room and set them for each project.
Seminars and company events
For a meeting or seminar, the 70 m² meeting room serves as the working room, the salon takes a plenary session or a reception, and the dining room is used for meals. Layouts are adapted to each event on request. The park, the terraces and the wooded garenne, a walk of almost a kilometre, give space for breaks, informal sessions and outdoor activities. Because the whole château is privatised, the group has the house and grounds to itself for the day. The château also hosts film shoots and cultural events, which gives an idea of the settings available.
Weddings and receptions
Religious ceremonies can be held in the Chapelle Sainte-Madeleine, the 16th-century chapel, and secular ceremonies in the park with the Seine as a backdrop. The terraces and park host the vin d'honneur, the cocktail and the photographs. Dinner takes place under a large marquee or tent on the 350 m² area that overlooks the Seine valley, a few metres from the château. A private visit of the château, the chapel and the park can be arranged before booking.
Rooms and capacities
The salon covers 100 m², the meeting room 70 m² and the dining room 50 m². The chapel is used for ceremonies. Outdoors, the marquee area measures about 350 m², and the park extends over some 20 hectares of lawns, terraces and woodland. Seated and standing figures for each layout are given by the château on request.
Catering
Organisers are free to choose their own caterer, DJ and other suppliers. The château can also share a list of partners who already know the house, the access routes and the marquee area.
History and setting
Ételan dates from the 15th century and was built in the Flamboyant Gothic style, with Renaissance features; its chapel was added in the 16th century. The château is protected as a historic monument. It stands on a rise above a bend of the Seine, within the Parc naturel régional des Boucles de la Seine Normande, on the axis between Rouen and Le Havre, and its terraces look straight down the valley.
Getting there
By car, the château is about 40 minutes from Le Havre, 45 minutes from Rouen and from Deauville, 1 hour 20 from Caen and 1 hour 45 from Paris. The nearest railway station is Yvetot, on the line from Paris Saint-Lazare to Le Havre, and the last stretch is by road.
