Seminars and company events
Château de Rully hosts seminars, business dinners, product launches and company parties for up to 140 seated or 250 standing guests, as well as weddings. The château is a private medieval fortress on a rocky spur above the vineyards of the Côte chalonnaise, in the village of Rully in Saône-et-Loire, 15 km from Chalon-sur-Saône. The bilingual team prepares each event with the organiser.
The château lists training, team, induction, management and sales seminars among the formats it receives, as well as retirement parties and Christmas events. A working day can combine a meeting in the Salon Italien, lunch in the medieval kitchen and a tasting of the estate's wines. An orienteering course with 15 markers runs through the park.
Weddings and receptions
Weddings are planned to measure. The religious ceremony can take place in the village church, 500 metres away and reached on foot through the park, and secular ceremonies are held on the terrace or in the park. The terrace faces south-east over the vines, is largely shaded and hosts the vin d'honneur, with an indoor fallback if the weather turns. A children's area adjoins the reception room, and the château salons are open for photographs. The 10-hectare park is enclosed and fully private on the day, and marquees can be added.
Rooms and capacities
The Salon Italien, a 19th-century dining room of 50 m² with two tall windows and an Italian mosaic, takes 14 in a U, 16 around an oval table or 35 in theatre style. The Cuisine Médiévale, 80 m² on the ground floor of the 12th-century keep, takes 20 to 35 for a meal or a welcome coffee. The Cuverie, 175 m² in the outbuildings and renovated in 2017, has a raised working area and a lower level for meals: 20 in a U, 50 in theatre style, 100 to 140 for a seated dinner and 250 for a cocktail.
Accommodation
The château has no guest bedrooms. The village of Rully has guest rooms, gîtes and two hotels with about 80 beds in total, and more can be found within 5 km.
Catering
The official site does not describe the catering arrangements, so ask which caterers work on site. Tastings of three estate wines, served with warm gougères, take place in the medieval kitchen or in the 15th-century cellar, depending on the size of the group.
History and setting
Hugues de Rully built the square keep, first mentioned in 1194. Through a marriage in the 14th century the château passed to the Saint-Léger family, who made it habitable in the 15th century, then by inheritance to the Montessus family, whose portraits still hang in the rooms. The present owner, Count Raoul d'Aviau de Ternay, descends from all three families. The château is a listed historical monument.
Getting there
