Weddings, family receptions, seminars, study days, product launches and business receptions for up to 160 seated guests take place at Château de Sédaiges, in Marmanhac, in the Cantal. The estate is privatised for each event. It offers a 180 m² reception hall, a neo-Gothic hall and a run of 18th-century salons, bedrooms in the château for up to 18 adults, attic rooms and a gîte in the park.
Seminars and company events
The château hosts seminars, meetings, study days, product launches and business receptions. The salons work both for working sessions and for cocktails, the park lends itself to breaks and team activities, and parking is on site. Groups can stay over several days, using the château bedrooms, the attic rooms and the park gîte, so a residential seminar can keep everyone on the estate.
Weddings and receptions
Weddings are the core of the estate's activity. Two packages cover up to 144 guests, one with accommodation for the Saturday night and one for the Friday and Saturday nights, and a supplement extends the number to 160. The hall is available from 8 am the day before the event until 5 pm the day after, with tables and chairs included, and access from two days before can be added for decoration. The vin d'honneur can take place in the park, and a brunch can be served the next day. Children can have their own dining room, and a sleeping area with travel cots can be set up.
Rooms and capacities
The Salle Jean de Caissac, renovated in 2013, covers 180 m² and seats 160. Below it, a 100 m² space is equipped for caterers. The Hall, 75 m² with a parquet floor, has neo-Gothic decor, carved woodwork and tapestries listed as historic monuments. The enfilade of the Petit Salon, Grand Salon and Salle à Manger totals 130 m², decorated in 18th-century style. Cleaning of the reception spaces is included.
Accommodation
Five bedrooms, three of them suites, sleep up to 14 adults with breakfast. Among them are the Midi, Perse, Bleue, Jaune and Verte rooms. A further suite takes four. Up to ten more guests can sleep in the attic rooms, and a gîte for 14 stands in the park, 100 m from the château. During a wedding, all rooms are reserved for the couple's guests.
Catering
Meals are prepared by the caterer booked for the event, who works from the equipped 100 m² space directly below the reception hall.
History and setting
In 1230 Sédaiges was already the seat of a seigneurial court. The fortress, nearly ruined during the Hundred Years' War, was rebuilt on its original plan in 1456 after a marriage with the Caissac family. The Béral family made it more comfortable around 1750 with panelling and wider windows. From 1860 it was remodelled in a neo-Gothic style influenced by Viollet-le-Duc: a third floor covered the courtyard and three towers were raised to the height of the keep. The château is listed on the supplementary inventory of historic monuments and is still lived in by descendants of the Sédaiges family. Its 6-hectare park, enclosed by old stone walls, has lawns, woods, ponds, 19th-century trees and a 12 m swimming pool, with views of the Cantal mountains.
