The Château de Vieillecour is hired as a whole for weddings, family celebrations, company seminars, retreats, training courses and team building, with a covered hall seating 90, a medieval garden and four houses sleeping 34. The estate lies at Saint-Pierre-de-Frugie, in the Périgord Vert in the north of the Dordogne, within the Périgord-Limousin regional nature park.
Seminars and company events
The estate suits a residential seminar or a retreat in which the team sleeps, works and eats on site. The covered reception hall seats up to 90 for meals, talks and evening sessions, and the medieval garden gives space for breakout groups and meals under the trees. A pond on the estate can be fished all year, and the enclosed park, home to deer, lends itself to walks between sessions. Outside providers are welcome, and the team can recommend local suppliers and coordinate with them on request.
Weddings and receptions
Weddings, birthdays, christenings and family gatherings are the estate's main events. The medieval garden, laid out like an Italian cloister, takes outdoor ceremonies, cocktails and meals. Music has no time limit. Booking covers three days, from Friday morning to Sunday afternoon, and the whole estate is reserved for the group. Tents, converted vans and motorhomes can be accommodated for extra guests, at an added charge per person.
Rooms and capacities
The covered reception hall seats up to 90 and serves for dinners, talks and parties. The medieval garden can host the ceremony, the cocktail and the meal. The estate does not state a maximum for standing events.
Accommodation
Four independent houses provide 34 beds in all, with bed linen and final cleaning included. One gîte for four covers 50 square metres over two floors with a terrace. One for six covers 145 square metres on one level, with an outdoor pool and a games room. One for eight covers 120 square metres on one level, with an outdoor pool. Two pools and a jacuzzi are open from May to September.
Catering
The estate has no in-house caterer. Organisers choose their own, whether a traditional caterer, a spit roast or a food truck, along with DJs and musicians.
History and setting
The château is presented by its owners as a medieval estate dating from the 12th century, with moats and gardens, and the property keeps a traditional farm. The house is registered as a historic monument. The park covers 28 enclosed hectares, and the Vieillecour forest includes the highest point in the Dordogne, at 491 metres. The setting is rural, with woods and pasture on every side.
Getting there
The address is lieu-dit Vieillecour, 24450 Saint-Pierre-de-Frugie. The estate is in the north of the Dordogne, close to the Haute-Vienne. Espace Hermeline, with tree-top courses and paddle boarding, is about five kilometres away, and the decorated cave of Villars is nearby, both useful for an afternoon activity.
