Weddings and receptions
Manoir du Plessis-Josso hires out its barn, courtyard and outbuildings for weddings and private receptions of up to 220 seated guests, from mid-May to October. The manor stands at Theix-Noyalo, in the Morbihan, east of Vannes. A brunch can be held on the day after the reception.
The manor is hired without furniture or catering. Couples and organisers choose their own caterer and their own hire company for tables, chairs, standing tables and parasols, and decorate the barn as they wish. The owners can share a list of suppliers who already know the site. The same model works for a company dinner or a summer party, provided the date falls within the hire season.
Rooms and capacities
The Grange du Connétable covers about 230 m². It seats 200 at round tables or 220 at long rectangular tables. The inner courtyard hosts the cocktail and is lit at night. The ground-floor rooms of the manor shelter guests if it rains, and one of them can be set aside as a quiet room for babies during dinner. The Pressoir is available to the caterer. The Chauffoir can be used as a cloakroom, a gift room or a playroom for children. An enclosed lawn gives children and teenagers space to play outside.
Catering
There is no in-house catering. Your caterer works from the Pressoir, an outbuilding set aside for the purpose. Check with your caterer which equipment must be brought in, since the manor is hired bare.
History and setting
Sylvestre Josso, squire to the Duke of Brittany, built a fortified house here in 1330. The Rosmadec family later strengthened it with a crenellated enclosure, a wall walk and defensive towers, which protected the site during the Wars of Religion. In the 15th century the estate covered some 1,500 hectares and included mills, bread ovens and a private port on the Gulf of Morbihan. A residence, an orangery, a chapel and a new kitchen were added in the 17th century. The Le Mintier de Léhélec family acquired the property at the end of the 18th century and still lives there. The manor is a private, inhabited historical monument and opens for free visits in summer. Its 14th-century kitchen, its 15th-century hall and its walled enclosure of 3 hectares have served as film sets, including for a 1988 film by Philippe de Broca.
